Living the Dream

My ideal job:

  • I’m my own boss
  • option to work from home
  • a brilliantly styled office space
  • shopping and dining are part of “networking”
  • meetings require me to be a global jet-setter
  • I make enough to never have to “worry” about finances
  • I make friends all over the world
  • Designer freebies would be the cherry on top

The only bullet-point missing is the only one that matters: What exactly is it I’d like to do?

At 21 years old, I can’t truly believe I am the only young woman who isn’t sure what career path she’d like to go down. My snowball of interests has led me to believe that I can literally be ANYTHING I want to be. I love health, science, kids, teaching, fashion, beauty, international news, business, technology, writing, art, nature… you name it, I’m into it. I’ve been to every sub-college of my university. So, how do I choose? How can I put every interest aside and dedicate my life to only one? Is there a method to choosing? Is it possible “majoring” isn’t everyone’s ideal means of committing to a career? Is it possible to just stumble into the perfect job?

I think I may have.

Bring in the Wedding Planner

Not to make excuses, but I missed my post Wednesday because I was out interviewing for my first position in the beauty industry. I’ve always wanted to be one of the women standing behind a beauty counter, sharing with all the willing-to-listen passersby the technology behind the hottest new product on the market. On days that aren’t busy, I would be left with every beauty fanatic’s dream— a department store’s worth of makeup to play with!

Somehow, however, I walked out with an offer to become the full-time Bridal Consultant for the store. I was just looking for a part-time college job lol. When I’m not catching up on my weekly TV faves, I turn straight to TLC for Say Yes to the Dress and Something Borrowed, Something New, or WEtv for My Fair WeddingI’ve never thought of myself in the position of the consultants though. Since Wednesday, it’s all I’ve been imagining. What if this is the moment I’ve been waiting for? That ah ha, eureka moment? Opportunity is knocking, and I’m opening the door! David Tutera, I’m coming for your job!

  2. Congrats! I will say this, opportunities come out of no where. Ironically, my sister is a wedding planner and she is ALWAYS trying to drag me along hoping I will catch the “wedding planner bug”. It is just not for me. I am a fashion & style junkie. BUT, I have met some pretty amazing people and one of my latest gigs came from me going with her to a soiree. I was hired as the fashion stylist of a major bridal fashion show. Who would have ever thought! Good luck on your decision! #OpportunityKnocksMeOpeningtheDoor

    • Thank you very much. It’s so awesome that you walked into the stylist job like that. Please please post a video of the backstage happenings! I’d would love to see how everything turned out. Congrats and good luck!

  3. I love this new blog! I can so relate to watching “Say Yes to The Dress” and “Four Weddings.” :) Congrats on the job offering!
